Singers

It is up to the  listener to decide who is a wonderful singer or not. I admit that most of my favorite singers would probably not qualify to be top-rated sopranos, and some are outright hoarse. I still love them all, and so could you. The book shows photographs of the following: Mockingbird, American Robin, House Wren, House Finch, Cardinal, Brown Thrasher, Eastern Bluebird, Orchard Oriole, and the Ruby-Throated Hummingbird.

Papa Robin is my favorite singer. He loves to sit in one certain place in the crabapple tree for long time. No other bird will sit so long on the same place. He starts to sing to tell his story of the past summers here on the Farm.

“I like spring, with the sun and rain that brings the worms out on the blacktop. Perfect, except spring brings other Robins to MY LAND. These "hm hm..s" eat MY worms, and that is not perfect. I must remember that there are plenty of worms around for everyone."

"Singing is much nicer when the sun shines, but then the worms hide in the grass; you can't have everything. My brothers helped me against the Mockingbirds. The Mockingbirds think they are bigger, but ha ha, we Robins are stronger” and so he went on.

Suddenly, he will change his voice, sing heartedly and fly away.
